Starting a new medication is always a little nerve-wracking. When that new medication is Human Growth Hormone, it can be even more intimidating.

Not only do you have to give yourself an injection, but you also have to mix the medication in its powder form with liquid to make it possible to inject it in the first place.

This article should help calm your nerves and answer some questions about how to prepare your HGH injection. Keep reading to learn how much bacteriostatic water to mix with HGH and more.

Why Bacteriostatic Water?

For starters, please remember that we are not doctors. We specialize in the HCG diet, not HGH use. You should follow your doctor's instructions regarding dosage and type of injection (intramuscular vs. subcutaneous), and any other specific instructions your doctor may have given for preparing and injecting HGH.

If your doctor didn't specify, it might be smart to use bacteriostatic water rather than regular sterile water or sodium chloride for reconstituting your HGH.

Bacteriostatic water contains 0.9% benzyl alcohol, which helps keep bacteria from contaminating your medication. This means that HGH prepared with bacteriostatic water can last for up to 3 weeks, while HGH prepared with sterile water must be used or thrown out after 5 days.

Bacteriostatic water will maintain a more sterile environment for your reconstituted HGH, making it safer to inject multiple doses over a short time.

How Much Bacteriostatic Water to Mix With HGH

Good news: there is no specific amount of bacteriostatic water that you must mix with your HGH. That being said, you do need to make note of the amount of bacteriostatic water you use, and certain amounts make more sense than others.

Your HGH probably comes in a vial that contains 10 IU of somatropin. No matter how much water you mix, there will be 10 IU of somatropin in that vial.

The easiest option mathematically is to use a 1-milliliter insulin syringe, which has 100 marks on it, and mix exactly one syringe (1mL) of water into your HGH. This will result in a concentration of 1 IU per 0.1mL (or 10 marks on the syringe).

If you are taking a lower dose, you may find it easier to reconstitute the HGH with 2 or 3 mL of water instead, resulting in a concentration of 1 IU/0.2mL or 1IU/0.3mL respectively.

Whatever amount of water you decide to use, make sure you make note of the concentration of the solution you have made. You want to be sure you are giving yourself the proper dose every time. It's easy to forget if you do not record the concentration of the solution in your vial.
