The first few months of a new diet are the hardest, with only 20% of people making it to the three month mark. If you're committed to losing weight, how can you make your first few weeks successful?
If you're trying out the HCG diet, you know that there are four phases: loading, weight loss, transition, and then maintenance. The loading phase is easy enough, but what about the weight loss portion of the regimen?
We're going to go over everything you can expect during your first few weeks and what you need to do to stay on track. With our guide, you're going to power through the tough parts and come out on top!
HCG Diet Rules
We mentioned the four phases of the diet. Essentially, you take a few days to load up on healthy, calorie-dense fats and then go into a weight loss phase.
During the weight loss phase, you'll be sticking to a low calorie diet and using HCG, a naturally occurring pregnancy hormone, to help burn fat in the proper places.
How does it feel to use HCG and how do you know what to eat on the HCG diet? Let's take a look at what to expect once you start.
Loading on Good Fats
During your loading phase, you'll have a few days to stock up on fat for your body. The trick is to do it right and eat high quality calories.
Don't load up on sugar, processed foods, and other junk that won't do you any favors. Go for fatty nuts, like macadamias, grass fed beef, wild caught salmon, avocados, and other healthier choices.
Weight Loss Phase
There's no doubt that any diet has its adjustment period. The HCG diet is no different, and you're sure to need time to get used to your new low calorie lifestyle during the weight loss phase.
This part of the diet will last from three to six weeks. The HCG hormone reportedly helps you feel feel and not as hungry as you start eating 500 calories per day.
This phase isn't without its struggles, however. You might feel irritable or experience headaches and fatigue at the beginning of this part as you experience withdrawals from sugar and overeating of other foods.
Approved Foods List
So what can you eat on the HCG diet? There are still plenty of tasty options for your meals even if you're eating less of them.
As for meats, look for lean options, like bison, chicken, and egg whites. Seafood lovers can enjoy white fish, lobster, scallops, and crab.
For fruits, stick with citrus, berries, and high-fiber apples. Almost all low carbohydrate vegetables are on the menu but your best bets are broccoli, onion, celery, cauliflower, lettuce, and more.
You can have all of the water you want along with sugar free tea and coffee. Enhance the flavor of your foods by adding more herbs, lemon juice, and spices but stay away from lots of salt. When you must use salt, make sure it is pure sea salt or Himalayan pink salt.
Succeed on Your HCG Diet
